Shri Srinivas Narayanan is a distinguished technology leader whose career spanning more than two decades has placed him at the forefront of transformative advances in artificial intelligence, digital platforms, and large-scale computing systems. A graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras with a B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Class of 1995, he later earned an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. In recognition of his contributions to the field of artificial intelligence, Forbes India named him among the “30 Indian Minds Leading the AI Revolution” in 2025.
Shri Srinivas currently serves as Chief Technology Officer for B2B Applications at OpenAI, where he leads the teams building developer APIs, platforms, and enterprise applications used by millions of companies worldwide. Prior to this role, he served as Vice President of Engineering for Applied work at OpenAI, where he led the development and global scaling of ChatGPT and the company’s developer platform. Under his leadership, the Applied Engineering organisation grew rapidly into one of the world’s leading AI engineering teams, delivering widely adopted models and features that have shaped the modern AI ecosystem.
Before joining OpenAI, Shri Srinivas spent over thirteen years at Meta Platforms, where he held several influential leadership roles. As Vice President leading the AI Applied Research and Engineering group, he oversaw research, development, and deployment across machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, speech recognition, reinforcement learning, and AI platforms, with systems reaching billions of users globally. Earlier, he led engineering for the Oculus developer platform, contributing to the launch of early consumer virtual reality systems. As Director of Engineering for Facebook Photos, he led one of the company’s most widely used product teams and founded the computer vision team that initiated the company’s early deep learning efforts.
Earlier in his career, Shri Srinivas served as a Research Engineer at IBM Almaden Research Center, where he worked on distributed systems and object-relational databases. He was also Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Viralizr and served as Founding Engineer and Director of Technology at Tavant Technologies, where he led software engineering and architecture for enterprise applications across several industries.
Alongside his professional achievements, Shri Srinivas remains deeply committed to philanthropy and social impact. He is President and Co-Founder of the Narayanan Family Foundation, which focuses on advancing education and environmental sustainability. He is also a founding member of The/Nudge Institute and serves on the Board of the San Francisco Bay Area chapter of Pratham USA, contributing to initiatives that expand access to education and opportunity for underserved communities.
