Facilities

The Institute has two guest houses within the campus. The guest house near the Admin Building is called the Bose-Einstein Guest House and the guest house in the hostel zone is called the Taramani Guest House. The Bose-Einstein Guest House has altogether 18 A/c Suites with a telephone and a TV in each room. VIPs, Institute guests and invited guests are usually accommodated here.

The Taramani Guest House has 83 rooms in total. Out of which 18 are Suites and 65 Air-conditioned rooms, Housed in an imposing double storeyed building and located at a central place, TGH provides boarding and lodging facilities for the Institute guests and Visitors, newly appointed faculty, staff members, delegates and participants attending various Conferences, Seminars, Symposia and Workshops. TGH is operated as a non-profit activity to mainly support the academic and research activity on the campus with a homely atmosphere and ambiance traditionally acclaimed for its environs of hygiene and food of homely relish and richness.

Alumni of all IITs can become a member of the Central Library. They can utilize all the services including accessing e-resources in Central Library under Internet environment.

Swimming Pool | Fitness | Badminton | Tennis

IIT Madras Alumni and their spouse and children (below 18 years) are eligible to use various Gymkhana facilities by becoming members of the respective clubs. The subscription rates for the various clubs are as follows:

The Film Club screens weekly Saturday night movies at the Open Air Theater (OAT). The charges for alumni are as follows:

The Music Club organizes classical music concerts in CLT for campus residents. Alumni are welcome to become members.

The Institute also has various ‘Sabhas’ and ‘Mandals’ which are informal gatherings of people having a similar linguistic background. The Hindi Mitra Mandal, the Kannada Sangha, the Muthamizh Mandram, the Telugu Samskritika Samiti etc. are a few of them given below. You may also participate on their activities.
