Welcome to Alumni & Corporate Relations

DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI SERVICE AWARD (DASA)

IIT Madras has a global alumni base of over 60,000+, with approximately 2,000 graduates added each year. The Institute encourages its Alumni to support its alma mater by investing in its future, through either affording their ‘Time’, or ‘Talent’, or ‘Treasure’. While existing awards such as the Distinguished Alumnus Award (DAA) primarily recognize professional excellence outside of the campus, it is felt that there is a growing need to acknowledge alumni who have made outstanding contributions inside the campus, in direct support of the institute by devoting their Time or/and Talent.

Therefore, IIT Madras proposes to establish a Distinguished Alumni Service Award (DASA) to recognize and honour alumni who have rendered outstanding service to the global stature and standing of the Institute.

The IITM alumni community continues to make significant contributions across sectors, with many demonstrating exceptional commitment to the Institute’s growth. Recognizing and honouring such alumni for their service and engagement would be appropriate and deeply meaningful. As IIT Madras continues to shape global leaders and innovators, acknowledging those who actively and selflessly ‘give back’ to the institute through their expertise and support, would be a fitting tribute, reinforcing IITM’s lofty beliefs, ethos and culture.

The DASA proposes to honour the outstanding service and contributions of Alumni in three categories: –

  • • Coaching, Mentorship, Personal & Professional Development, Career Pathways.
  • • Aiding Internships, Projects, Industrial Experience, Entrepreneurship.
  • • Engagement through Pedagogy, Lectures, Motivational Talks.
  • • Improving Governance, Systems, Processes.
  • • Aiding in the design of impactful, contemporary Academic Courses, Programmes.
  • • Furthering Synergy, Collaborations, Partnerships.
  • • Serving as its ‘Brand Ambassadors’.
