Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) hosts 50 students and youth from Tripura under ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ North East Yuva Sangam campaign. The students were hosted by IIT Madras from 4th to 9th March 2023.
IIT Madras and National Institute of Technology (NIT) Agartala have been identified as nodal institutes to host visits by a respective team of 50 students and youth from Tripura to Tamil Nadu and vice versa for a period of 5 to 6 days under this campaign.
The campaign is built around the idea of pairing different States and Union Territories with the northeast states. This pairing will help youth from different parts of the country to interact with each other and learn about their customs, traditions, lifestyles, and technological developments.
Speaking about this program, Prof. Nilesh J. Vasa, Dean (Students), IIT Madras, said, “During the visit by the youth from Tripura from 4th to 9th March 2023, various programs and activities, such as cultural and sports events, IIT Madras Research Park exhibitions, industrial visits to the Integral Coach Factory near Chennai, museums and workshops have been scheduled. The youth will also have an opportunity to interact with the school children and start-up companies from IIT Madras.”
This visit to Tamil Nadu would be an enriching experience for the visiting students from Tripura. Similarly, 50 students and youth from Tamil Nadu will visit Tripura from 13th March 2023 for five days.
The visit by the youth of both States will promote the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and skills between the paired states. The idea of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat is inspired by the vision of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who played a pivotal role in the integration of the country post-independence.
