Shri. G. Ramkumar ( MT-CE, ‘ 81) , Former Executive Director, Indian Oil Corporation

An M. Tech. from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras,  and Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India). Awarded “The Marine Engineering Division Gold Medal” for 1988-89 by the Institution of Engineers (India), for the joint paper with Prof. H Raman of IITM, on  the development of  “Computer Simulation model for analysis of waiting time of ships and berth occupancy in Ports”.

Professional experience in Indian Oil Corporation, spanning over 37 years, (from 1979 to 2016)in different parts of the country. Superannuated from Indian Oil as Executive Director (Automation) in Nov 2016. Part of Top Management of the Corporate, with Multi functional approach ,including Engg  & Projects & Leadership Management positions, Coupled with  Enthusiasm for Knowledge Transfer & Learning, Capability Building etc.,

Engineering & Projects for Petroleum Oil storage & Handling & Distribution facilities, Infrastructure for Handling,Storage,Distribution of Lubricants & LPG :

Conceptualisation of the Project, Design, Project Management & Commissioning of Oil storage Terminals, Lube handling facilities & LPG Bottling plants…involving Pressure vessels for storage, Piping, Fire protection,Safety Requirements, meeting Environmental standards. Involved in construction of world’s highest LPG Bottling Plant at Leh, Ladak. Also wide experience in putting up Retail network – construction of Petrol stations, Automation, Retail Marketing Management with Customer interface. Heading Marketing functions & Management achieving  for meeting the Petroleum demands of the country, under challenging conditions & Logistics.

Developed Software for Pipeline design for Oil Depots, Terminals & Dock lines etc. This programme extensively used by Indian Oil for design of pipelines at Oil Terminals, Dock lines etc., & contribution in development of Computer Models for practical solutions. Headed the Automation Group as Executive Director (Automation) at Head Office, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., (Marketing Division) Mumbai – driving the initiative of Automation of Petrol Stations & Oil Storage Terminals.

Contribution for Knowledge transfer & Learning models: in areas of Technical as well as  General Management.

Regular Faculty for in-house training programmes on Technical & Management topics

Conducting Capability building programmes, for skill development.  Participated in several Technical, Management  programmes. Speaker in “Petrotech” (international seminar) , Seminars on IT&OT –  Oil & Gas on Automation.

Attended the Harvard Business School (HBS)’s Executive programme –  “Leading Innovation – India”

Piloted the unique Learning Model Exercise with the theme : “People join together, to learn how to learn, not just learn” for In house executives

Actively contributing to ……“Sustainability of Environment” with practical implementation of Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) techniques at Petrol Stations, project sites, Building complex.etc.  Active interest in Greenery and nature.Awards received in recognition too.

Lover of Sports & Games:  had won laurels in Chess Championships at State level, participation at National level & Represented the Organization.
