IITs show promise in the face of pandemic with placement offers as high as 1.5 crores for international profiles and 80 lakh from domestic offers. Check placement reports of IIT Bombay, Madras, Roorkee, etc.

ndian Institutes of Technology, IITs across the country started with their placements for the 2020-21 sessions on December 1 and with a bang. With a record high in pre-placement offers, many students have already bagged offers as high as 1.54 crores from international companies. The packages for domestic companies have also seen a sharp rise to about 80 lakhs this year for all top IITs including IIT Madras, Bombay, Roorkee, Guwahati etc.

As per the information shared, international IT Giant Cohesity has offered packages to the tune of $200,000 per annum which translates to nearly 1.5 crores at IIT Madras for its California offices. As for IIT Bombay, its students picked up a package of Euros 157,000 which is roughly 1.4 crores from trading giant Optiver for its Amsterdam and Sydney offices. Not just international, domestic offers also saw a formidable increase from previous year’s numbers. IIT Roorkee confirmed packages as high as 80 lakhs with as many as 272 overall offers on Day 1. IIT Bombay and Madras also recorded similar packages from various companies.

While the top offers may be limited, overall the placement season has brought much needed cheer to the IITs. IIT Bombay reported 153 pre-placements offers of PPOs. As many as 18 companies participated on day 1 of the placements for 2021 batch. The highest offers were made by tech giants Microsoft, Google, Apple, Texas Instruments, Qualcomm as well as Consulting majors like Boston Consulting Group, Morgan Stanley etc.

IIT Kanpur too reported as many as 226 offers on Day 1 itself with highest domestic package of Rs. 82 lakh from Graviton Trading which picked three students. QuantBox also offered a package of 80 lakh while Cohesity also made an international offer. Many offers to the tune of 60 lakhs from domestic companies were also made. IIT Guwahati also recorded as many as 133 PPOs and 69 offers so far and is hopeful of better statistics as compared to last year in 2020.
