For the first time in history, the graduation ceremony of IIT Chennai was held in a virtual manner this year.

The ceremony was held in a virtual manner with a mix of both direct graduation and online graduation. A total of 2,346 degrees were awarded to students at the 57th Graduation Ceremony held yesterday (Oct. 25).

The award was presented by Nobel Laureate and Chairperson of the Theoretical Physics Chair of the University of California, David J. Cross attended as chief guest. Power Goenka, Chairman, Chennai IIT Board of Governors and Managing Director, Mahindra, presided over the graduation ceremony.

 

IIT Madras Director Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthy presented the degrees online to the graduating students. A total of 2,346 degrees were awarded this year. A maximum of 353 PhD degrees were awarded in one of these academic years. These degrees include a PhD, a PhD affiliated with a foreign company, and a dual degree PhD.
