Biomedical signal analysis is a scientific discipline as well as technology frontier with immense applications, said Prof V Jagadeesh Kumar of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. “It is a growing research field where many revolutionary ideas and efficient algorithms have been developed over the past few decades,” he said.
Delivering a lecture after inaugurating an AICTE-sponsored Faculty Development Programme (FDP) “Hands on project based approach for biomedical signal analysis using MATLAB”, being organised online by the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science Warangal (KITSW), on Monday, he said, “This FDP will provide an opportunity to highlight recent trends and developments in the field of biomedical signal processing. It will further give impetus to the participants towards bringing out newer and efficient techniques.”
KITS Principal and Co-ordinator of the FDP Prof K Ashoka Reddy said the participants will get trained in the area of biomedical signal processing and the institute was ready to start guiding meaningful projects to UG and PG students at their institutions.
MP (Rajya Sabha), Secretary & Correspondent, KITSW, Capt V Lakshmikantha Rao said the main focus of this programme was to train the faculty on biomedical signal analysis using MATLAB. The training will help them guide students on projects in the field of biomedical signal processing.
Professor and Head Dr B Rama Devi, Assistant Professors J Sheshgiri Babu, P Yugander, deans, HoDs, Dean, Student affairs Prof G Raghotham Reddy, Associate Professor of Chemistry and PRO Dr D. Prabhakara Chary were present.
