Merit-cum-Means Scholarship

Description
Studying at IIT Madras is a dream for many students. The only criteria to achieve the goal have been and should be merit, nothing else. Among the meritorious students, a few need financial support to pursue their education at IIT Madras. Our office of Alumni and corporate relation is pleased to assist students with tuition assistance while they pursue their education at IIT Madras.

The Merit-cum-Means scholarship is supported by various Alumnus, Corporates and Well-wishers to contribute to the tuition expenses of selected deserving and meritorious students.
Objective of Merit-cum-Means Scholarship
Till 2015, the Tuition fee for a student was Rs. 90,000 per annum, and the Merit-Cum Scholarship fully supported the total cost of the tuition fees. Since 2016, the tuition fee has been revised to Rs. 2 lakh per annum. The Govt. Merit-Cum Scholarship has been revised to 2/3rd of Rs.2 lakhs (i.e. 1.33 Lakhs). This leaves a sum of Rs. 66,667/- to be borne by the student. This is particularly applicable to those students whose parental income is Greater than 1 lakh and less than Rs. 5 lakhs per year.
From the year 2021 onwards,, we are extending our support towards tuition fees for meritorious, deserving students with parental income of Rs. 5 lakhs to Rs. 8 lakhs.
Eligibility/Renewal Criteria
  • Parental income between Rs. 1 lakh and 5 lakhs per annum.
  • B. Tech. / Dual Degree students are eligible.
  • Beneficiary is required to maintain a minimum GPA of 5.0 across all the semesters.
  • Up to four (4) years of tuition assistance will be covered based on the renewal criteria.
Fund Transfer Methodology
  • Students should have their bank account details in the IITM Workflow.
  • On confirmation from the ACR office, Main Accounts will transfer the scholarship fund to students’ accounts within two to three weeks.
  • Students must confirm to the ACR Office their receipt of the fund.

Unique Scholarship

Description
The purpose of the Unique Scholarship is to encourage and motivate meritorious students who have secured the highest rank in JEE and maintain a top CGPA in every semester. The selection is made by the department Heads and Academic Section, and the final list of recipients will be shared with the office of Alumni and Corporate Relations.
List of Unique Scholarships:

1 Saireddy Comprehensive Undergraduate Scholarships (i) Every year, two students will be identified based on the top JEE-rank
(ii) Annual parental income should be 5 lakhs to 8 lakhs.
(iii) One time grant, no renewal
Two Scholarship for one male and one female students of Rs. 3,00,000 per annum for each student.
2 Ram Shriram Merit Scholarship (i) Based on top rank in JEE advanced exam
(ii) Annual Parental Income below Rs. 5 Lakhs (For fresh sanction).
(iii) Renewal based on Minimum CGPA 8 by the end of previous academic year and student should not have any backlogs.
(iv) The student should not receive any other scholarship other than MCM.
(v) Promote the scholarship program to female students so they are aware of this opportunity
(vi) Shriram Merit Scholars will be 20% female
Every year Scholarship amount of Rs. 1,20,000 will be given for each student.
3 Deepak Memorial Scholarship (i) Top rank in JEE advanced exam
(ii) Annual parental income is between Rs. 4.5 lakhs – Rs. 8 lakhs
(iii) Renewal of scholarship for the subsequent years is subject to maintaining minimum CGPA of 8.0
Every year Scholarship amount of Rs. 1,20,000 will be given for each student.

Sports & Extracurricular Scholarship

Description
Sports and Extracurricular Scholarship is to encourage and motivate the sports and other activities carried out by the students at the Inter-IITM and Intra-IITM levels. The selection is made by the Dean of students and committee members. The final list of recipients will be shared with the office of Alumni and Corporate Relations.
