Completed B.Tech from IIT MADRAS in 1973 and joined the Indian Telecommunication Service in 1974. Completed MBA in Operations management. Served in various capacities in the Department of Telecommunications and MTNL. Was deputed abroad as a telecom expert by the United Nations. Served as Executive Director of MTNL, Mumbai, spearheading the overall operations, growth & development of the MTNL Mumbai Unit. Made noteworthy contributions in the fields of Information Technology, sales and marketing and development of MTNL.

Before retiring from Government service, worked as Advisor (Technology) in the Department of Telecommunications New Delhi and was associated with the preparation of the Draft National Telecom Policy.
