Meet the richest self-made women of India in 2020 and this is their net worth

Achieving success and wealth takes a lot of hard work, perseverance and patience. And when you’re a woman, the struggle becomes manifold. Whether one likes to admit it or not, women are still not treated as par with men in the corporate world, much like anywhere else. Despite all odds, the below mentioned two women are the only self-made women entrepreneurs to make it to this year’s HURUN India Rich List. Besides being the only two self-made women on the list, both these women also run their successful businesses from Bengaluru. Here’s all you need to know about them:

Richest self-made women of India from the HURUN India Rich List and their net worths

1. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw

If you managed to watch Netflix’s Bad Boy Billionaires: India, you may have caught a glimpse of Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw in Vijay Mallya’s episode. She is the richest self-made woman in the country who is the Founder and Executive Chairperson of Biocon. This pharmaceutical company was the first one to ever get a nod for two separate biosimilar drugs for cancer treatment by the USFDA. In the 2020 HURUN India Rich List, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw is ranked 34th, only two spots below the richest Indian woman i.e. Smita V Crishna. This year, the Founder and Executive Chairperson Biocon added ₹163 crore to her wealth, taking her net worth from ₹17,480 crores in 2019 to ₹33,784 in 2020, according to Forbes. This marks a 93.28% gain, the highest not just among all the women but among all of India’s 100 richest persons in 2019. If all goes well, by next year, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw will not only be the richest among all the self-made women in India, but also the richest woman in the country.
