On October 30, we celebrated the 3rd edition of “International Day” in & around CLT, and it was a huge hit with the campus residents & foreign students alike. The food stalls that the international students put up were mobbed all through the afternoon, and the tasty morsels were all gone by 4 pm. CLT was packed to capacity, with many sitting in the aisles. Not for long, though, as they were up & dancing soon. The visitors gamely tried on native costumes and Bollywood steps, while the local MC wowed the crowd with the last piece- a fusion of MJ &Bharatnatyam! The energy and enthusiasm in the venerable Hall were palpable. Here is one news report on the Event:
Deakin University, Australia, has felicitated IIT Madras with the ”Strategic Partner” award towards contributions in building a bond between the two countries through research and development.

IIT Madras is well on its way to establishing strategic partnerships with the best institutions around the world, with a focus on research collaborations. Joint papers, proposals, courses, supervision of Ph.D. & M.S. scholars, and doctorate degree programs are being pursued with a groundswell of support from faculty and from administration. Our outreach, long overdue, is meeting with an enthusiastic response from our partner Universities. Industry is also being inducted as a partner in such joint programs so that they can play an enabling role.
