Brahmayya Akella is B.Tech (Mechanical) 1976 and MS (Control Systems) 1983, both from IIT Madras. He did his Exec MBA from IIM Bangalore and Babsons College, Boston.
He started his career in R & D with math modelling of power plant equipment to build Operator Training Simulators in India. He then moved on to build innovative solutions for different industries like Cement, Steel plants, power plants, paper mills, using Computer controlled systems.

A major part of his career was in Siemens where as VP (Real Time Systems), he built a large business group offering solutions in Medical  Imaging Systems, Hospital Management Systems, Automotive, and Process control. He later moved to Infineon Technologies as Managing Director to build the semiconductor business of Siemens in India. His last corporate job was President and Managing Director of KLA Tencor before he became an entrepreneur as a Founder and CEO of his startup, Touchfone Technology India Pvt Ltd. At Touchfone, technology in being built for streaming videos under bandwidth constrained networks and across all devices.
