Prof. Swarun Kumar is an academic and researcher who has made significant impact in the field of Computer Networks and Wireless Communication. He is currently the Sathaye Family Foundation Professor at CMU ECE (with a courtesy appointment at the Computer Science department).
Prof. Kumar holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and a B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras where he was ranked first in his institute. His list of accolades include the ACM SIGMOBILE Rockstar Award (2024), ACM SIGBED Early Career Award (2021), NSF CAREER Award (2020), George M. Sprowls Award for Outstanding Ph.D. thesis in Computer Science at MIT (2015), and the President of India Gold Medal for Highest CGPA at IIT Madras (2010).
His academic interests lie in computer networks, wireless communication, networked systems, robotics, computer security, positioning systems, and vehicular networks.
